For the month of February we'll be going head-to-head with our colleagues at Alex Picot Chartered Accountants to raise funds for two local charities.
For 28 days 46 of us will monitor the number of steps we take using a wearable fitness device and at the end of the month both businesses pledge to make a donation for every 5,000 steps recorded to their respective chosen charities; Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Stroke Association.
Initiative leader, and Partner at Alex Picot Chartered Accountants, Don Connolly, said: “Throughout the year our staff regularly join together to take part in local fundraising initiatives and challenges as one team, but this time they face a healthy dose of inter-office competition going up against each other in the steps challenge. Whether they see this as an opportunity to improve their fitness levels or simply help their team clock up the steps, this has inspired staff to get walking and help us make a difference through fundraising.
“We’re really pleased that our efforts will benefit two charities which do such valuable work within our community and we anticipate a significant donation to each regardless of which team is the overall winner of the Challenge.”
Andrew Le Cheminant, Director at Alex Picot Trust, added: “We certainly welcome the challenge set by our colleagues which is a great demonstration of how, despite now operating independently, we are still committed to our shared heritage and to building on that to benefit good causes. The initiative is inspiring some friendly rivalry around our shared offices and as we start to see the results on the leader-board hopefully we will also improve our fitness levels as well as generate a significant donation for our nominated charities.”
