Temples, networking and a look to the future

Reinforcing the wide reaching access to global tax advice that we have as a member of the Kreston International Network, one of our Directors recently traveled to Siem Reap in Cambodia to meet up with 106 colleagues from 60 countries to share updates and knowledge during the annual five-day conference.

Derek Rhodes joined fellow Kreston International members in Southeast Asia for the 46th annual International World Conference. The key message of the conference was to reinforce working together for success in a rapidly changing market for professional services as we develop our global network to deliver growth in profits and value for all member firms.

Highlights of the event included an introduction to ‘Doing business in Cambodia’ by Kreston member, Keat Heng, Managing Director of Cam Accounting & Tax Service Limited; a UK and Brexit focused update provided by Kreston Board Members; and a presentation by US member firm Mayer Hoffman McCann.

The keynote speaker this year was internationally recognised business strategist Graeme Codrington, who specialises in the future of work. Over two highly thought-provoking and entertaining sessions, Graeme presented on topics that will have a major impact on our future success, "Future-focused leaders"which explored how smart leaders need to keep ahead of change by building and then adapting a future focused skill set; and 'Making the most of your Millennials', a fascinating insight into the young workforce of today and how technology is the 'norm' for them in all aspects of everyday life.

“I was delighted to be part of another successful Kreston World Conference set to the unique and stunning backdrop of Siem Reap. The value of attending these conferences is reinforcing how Alex Picot Trust is part of the wider Kreston community and it’s a great way of catching up with familiar faces and making new contacts. We all enjoy getting together to share updates from our countries and it’s always very important to hear from Kreston International about any network news.”

Derek and his fellow delegates enjoyed some social events including a grand tour of famous Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm Temple; an exciting and competitive team building event around the streets of Siem Reap in Tuk-Tuks; A visit by boat to Tonle Sap Lake and the floating villages and an unforgettable final exclusive dinner within the temples of Angkor.
